Cockburnspath Community Café
The Cockburnspath Community Café is much more than somewhere to enjoy a cup of tea and a bite to eat — it is a warm, friendly meeting place at the heart of village life, bringing residents, families, friends and visitors together in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Located in Cockburnspath Village Hall, the Community Café is open every Tuesday from 11am–2pm, offering a chance to enjoy good food, home baking, tea and coffee while catching up with friends, meeting new people and enjoying a good old-fashioned village chat.
A Café With Community at Heart
The café plays an important role in keeping our village connected. It provides a regular opportunity for people to get out, meet others and enjoy some company, helping to tackle loneliness and social isolation in our rural community.
The café has become a much-loved part of Cockburnspath life, with community feedback showing just how valued it is. 91% of respondents to a 2024 evaluation said the café had successfully brought the community back together and reduced social isolation.
The menu changes regularly, keeping things fresh and interesting, with food prepared locally and ingredients sourced where possible from local suppliers, including our Community Shop. Volunteers also continue to play an important role, helping with baking, serving and supporting the café team.
Everyone Welcome
Whether you’re a long-time resident, new to the village, visiting the area, out for a walk or simply looking for somewhere friendly to stop for lunch, everyone is welcome.
It’s a great place to meet friends, make new ones, catch up with neighbours or simply enjoy a relaxed Tuesday morning in the company of others.
The café also forms part of the wider activities at Cockburnspath Village Hall, where a variety of clubs, classes, events and community activities take place throughout the year.
Supporting Our Community
The Community Café is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when local people come together. Volunteers have always been an important part of its story, and the café continues to welcome people who would like to help — whether that’s in the café, kitchen or with home baking. Even a little time can make a big difference.
So, next time you’re in Co’Path on a Tuesday, pop into the Village Hall, grab a cuppa, enjoy something tasty and say hello. You never know who you might meet!
