Branxton Substation enabling works
Works will continue during the summer which include progressing the 3km haul road to the Branxton substation site, which crosses public roads at three locations. To support construction of these junctions (including signage, road widening and resurfacing), various road closures have been agreed with East Lothian Council.
Road Network Update: Changes Now Operational at Bilsdean and Lawfield Roads:
Local residents are advised that the new junction arrangement at the C220/C120 Bilsdean Road is now operational. While the new slip road has yet to open, the revised junction layout is now in use and motorists should take extra care when travelling through the area as traffic patterns have changed.
In addition, Road Crossing 1 at Lawfield Road is now fully operational. This functions as a give-way junction for vehicles exiting the haul road, and all road users are encouraged to remain alert and follow the new traffic management arrangements.
To enhance safety for all road users, temporary warning signage will be installed to alert drivers that both junctions are now in operation. An additional banks person will also be stationed on the approach to the crossing to help manage vehicle movements and promote safe driving behaviour.
Residents should also be aware that Lawfield Road is expected to experience higher traffic volumes from 13 July for approximately three weeks, due to a road closure being undertaken by East Lothian Council elsewhere in the area *.
We would like to thank the local community for their continued patience and cooperation as these works progress and new road arrangements are brought into service.
SPEN appreciate the community’s patience during these works and encourage people to contact the stakeholder engagement team on 07345 482038 or email project.communications@spenergynetworks.co.uk with any questions.
* Birnieknowes Road closed for ELC resurfacing
